Artist Statement
Exploration and the inevitable lessons that come with it does something to the senses, the mechanism that is the body takes on new parallels, inhabits new form, and redefines its boundaries. Living in a culture impassioned by a socialist revolution while sharing adventure, service -- and celebration with a variety of people, communities and environments -- was the most transformative experience I have ever had.
My journey into the heart of Venezuela was a doorway into the deeper omni-present inner resources one only finds when surrounded by the unknown. My senses became ultra-violet, my creative river became vibrant, elongated, an immense thriving biotic organism. I was swimming everyday in the Caribbean ocean, immersed in a colorful new language, dancing to salsa music, backpacking, rock-climbing, kayaking, modeling, writing, playing guitar, singing, performing, implementing visionary service projects and meeting people whose eyes were overflowing with love. I soaked up my experience like a sponge, my inner realms translated immediately into my external element. My muscles became toned, my skin began to glow, my eyes and hair shone with a newfound luster. I began to move with a natural grace I had never known.
This natural grace is what moved me to create "Viva Viva Venezuela." I want to share how my senses became more acute, my thoughts, feelings and movements enhanced, my heart opening more to the radiance of life; My intention is to plant seeds of inspiration and awareness by re-awakening secret gardens in my viewer's lives.
Through this presentation I hope to encourage people of all ages (especially youth) to go out into the world and explore their passion for life, through participating in innovative service projects that help other people to live better lives. Every culture has much to teach us about freedom, being alive, being human and what it takes to create a healthy society! Through offering my perspectives on Venezuela I want to empower people to make a difference in creating a better world.

Egg entwined by serpent: Represents time as the boundary of the created world. Eggs are universal symbols of creation, birth, rebirth, the moon and the goddess. They are often seen in conjunction with the serpent or snake. The goddess birthed both the snake and the egg from her body and they floated on the waters of chaos. By wrapping herself around the egg, the snake broke it open, and from it hatched all the forms of the universe.
